Looking for family-friendly things to do in Greeley, Colorado, this summer? Get out of the house and get your entire crew moving with the near-endless list of summer fun Greeley Recreation offers for all ages, abilities, and interests.
From a splashin' good time at our two city water parks to pushing your limits on the climbing wall, centering your kids' summer around Greeley Rec will open doors all parts of town, from the Family FunPlex in West Greeley all the way east to the Discovery Bay Waterpark just past Highway 85.
1. Putt the (Miniature) Poudre
Greeley's mini-golf course is one of our city's best-kept secrets, but not for much longer once you spread the word! Located at the Greeley Family FunPlex (1501 65th Ave.), adjacent to Twin Rivers Ball Park and Sheep Draw Trail, our custom-designed 18-hole mini-golf course showcases the history of Greeley’s water supply system at each hole. The course is open year-round (weather permitting) and is a great place for some friendly competition to see who can land that hole-in-one.
The Family FunPlex is also home to an 18-hole frisbee golf course—one of three in Greeley.
2. Stay Cool By the Pool
When the summer temps skyrocket, you can't beat a day spent at Greeley Rec’s four pools or two splash parks.
The Family FunPlex
For the sun averse (no judgment!), there’s an indoor waterpark at the Family FunPlex, complete with three slides, a dump bucket, lazy river, activity pool with a basketball hoop, lap pool, and a zero-depth area for little ones (with its own slides of course).
Discovery Bay
Discovery Bay Waterpark (715 E. 24th St.) is our go-to outdoor water fun, with its signature dinosaur design (the only one of its kind in the nation). The site features a zero-depth area, activity pool, lazy river, slide, and splash pad.
Centennial Pool
The Centennial Pool (2315 Reservoir Rd.) has a 243 ft. slide, a diving well, and a splash pad with plenty of grass to spread out and enjoy the day.
The Greeley Recreation Center
The Greeley Rec Center (located downtown at 651 10th Ave.) also has a diving well, lap pool, and a shallow end that's great for those learning to swim.
Insider tip: If you want to try them all and see which slides are your favorites or which diving board has the best spring, the most affordable way is to buy a 10-visit punch pass, available for purchase at all locations.
Splash Parks
If you enjoy just splashing around (especially for those with the littlest of little ones), Island Grove Splash Park (302 N 14th Ave.) is a great place to head before you visit the Greeley Stampede, or check out the Sunrise Splash Park (325 12th St.), another perfect spot to beat the heat.
3. Break Out Your Skates
Speaking of cooling off, the Greeley Ice Haus (900 8th Ave.) is the coolest place in town! Literally! With a regulation-size sheet of ice, it offers public skate sessions daily from noon to 1:30 p.m. There are family skate sessions Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday nights from 6:30-8 p.m. And it only costs $25 for two adults and up to four children with skate rental included.
Cosmic Skating takes place every Friday and Saturday night from 6:30-8 p.m. combining music and lighting effects for an epic skating experience with friends.
4. Boulder Any Day of the Week at Greeley’s Only Public Climbing Wall
Are you the adventurous type? Test your skills at Greeley Recreation’s climbing wall. Great for beginners and intermediate climbers alike, you can boulder any day of the week during normal hours or top rope climb with our staff Monday and Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and the first and third Saturday each month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Don’t have the right equipment? No problem, Greeley Rec supplies it all—even shoes!
5. Just Drop In!
Did we mention the wide variety of drop-in activities we offered through the City of Greeley Recreation? With everything from our preschool play sessions to inline hockey to pickleball, there's tons to do at both the Family FunPlex and the downtown Greeley Recreation Center.
Spend your summer with Greeley Rec for some of the most affordable family-friendly activities in Greeley, making special memories and having fun bonding together. Daily admission includes all facility amenities (and free fitness classes too!) or get more bang for your buck when you buy a membership. You'll get access to both the Family FunPlex and Greeley Recreation Center for the price of one.
Our recommendation? Sit down with your tiny humans to make a recreation list of must-do activities, and check the fun-filled days off one-by-one this summer.
