GREELEY, Colo. — Greeley residents had the opportunity to become part of Colorado history during the Great Colorado Time Capsule's Northern Colorado tour stop at Aims Community College's Welcome Center on Thursday, June 25.
Hosted by Visit Loveland as part of the statewide America 250 – Colorado 150 celebration, the project invites Coloradans to preserve a snapshot of life in 2026 for future generations. The time capsule will remain sealed until 2076, when it will be opened to commemorate the nation's 300th anniversary and Colorado's 200th anniversary of statehood.
The Greeley stop saw a strong community turnout, with residents submitting heartfelt letters, drawings and other personal items that reflect life in Greeley today. Visit Greeley also contributed two beloved "Monster Day babies," representing one of the community's most cherished annual traditions.
"We're proud to see Greeley represented in this once-in-a-generation project," said Kate Horst, Tourism Marketing Specialist for Visit Greeley. "Every submission helps tell the story of who we are today and preserves a piece of our community for future Coloradans."
Community members still have time to participate. Suggested submissions include personal letters, photographs, artwork, creative writing and small keepsakes that represent life in Colorado. Items will be reviewed by a selection committee before being preserved in the time capsule.
Submissions will be accepted in person during the Larimer County Fair, July 31 through Aug. 4, 2026, at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland. Those unable to attend can also mail items or submit a digital "Letter to the Future."
